​The core mission of SumanaaTea FPO is to promote organic tea production for sustainable tea farming. The main purpose is to ensure sustainable tea practices in the long run by providing comprehensive support to its members, the small growers. This includes:

​Operational Plan

​The operational plan is broken down into several key steps:

​Field Preparation

  • ​Field Allocation: Farmers allocate a field for organic tea cultivation.
  • ​Field Cleaning: Competitor plants are removed from the field. Labor cost is 850 Rs per day.
  • ​Manure Application: Organic manure is applied as needed. The cost is 480 Rs per bag.

​Plucking and Quality Standards

  • ​The FPO emphasizes a strict plucking schedule to ensure high-quality leaves:

​Pricing and Profit Sharing

  • ​Premium Price: The FPO aims for a premium price using the Full Loaded Cost (FLC) method set by the factory.
    • ​60% FLC: 30 Rs/kg.
    • ​80% FLC: 35-40 Rs/kg.
  • ​Profit-Sharing: A profit-sharing model is used to ensure members grow financially with the FPO.
